Our Impact
Cal Berkeley Democrats has been the foundation of many local field operations. For the 2024 elections, we held phonebanks for our endorsed candidates, knocked on doors to reelect progressives, worked to elect a progressive/pro-tenant slate of candidates for the Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board. We have been campaigning hard this year to get California Proposition 50 passed, a key proposition that will help combat Trumps plan to rig congress. Historically and to this day, we have registered thousands of students to vote, carried several local and state candidates to victory, and even traveled to battleground areas to canvass for endorsed candidates.
Over the years we have hosted inspiring guests such as then-Senator Kamala Harris, the Founders of Pod Save America, Former Presidential Candidate Martin O’Malley, Governor Gavin Newsom, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, State Controller Betty Yee, State Senator Nancy Skinner, MO Secretary of State Jason Kander, and CA Secretary of State Debra Bowen
Cal Dems provides a variety of social and professional opportunities. The club is a great place to network and socialize with a group of students bound by common democratic values. Cal Dems members connect to employers through the weekly digest, internship and job fairs, and professional workshops. Many of our alumni are now serving in elected office, working on campaigns, or in legislative offices.
